Frequently Asked
Questions
1. What is fertility justice?
Fertility justice understands family-building not only as a health-care issue, but as a matter of justice. Barriers in law, policy, and medical practice continue to exclude many people.
Our work will strive to examine access to IVF, egg and sperm donation, and surrogacy, advocates for the rights of LGBTQ+ people, single parents, racialized individuals, people living in rural areas, and other marginalized communities.
2. Why was this project created?
As demand for fertility care grows, it is crucial to start the conversation and keep it going. Discussion will consider what this trend reveals about shifting family structures, societal values, health needs, and medical marketing. The goal is to surface inequities, highlight underrepresented experiences, and imagine a truly inclusive system.
3. Who can get involved?
We welcome everyone who would like to learn more about fertility justice to get involved. Lincoln Alexander Law School students, staff and faculty, and general community members can get involved through attending events. Events are promoted on the website and through social media.
Applications to be a part of the student team are available each Fall semester through the Experiential Learning Opportunities program.
